Our client, the world’s largest global provider dedicated to banking and payment technologies, is looking for a Systems Programmer/Administrator to join their Amsterdam team.

 

Job Profile for Systems Programmer/Administrator

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Responsible for development, primarily in the form of utilities, shell scripts and general Operating system support
  • Help clients design and implement operational procedures and automation utilities
  • Support internal database deployment tasks and resolve problems as they arise
  • Help document installation procedures for the company’s products to be distributed to clients
  • Implement and test 3rd party system management tools and work on integrating them with the company’s profile, document the procedures, and manage the certification process if necessary
  • Participate in client operational audits and document the findings in standardised reports. If needed, manage any follow up work that may result
  • Act as a secondary backup to the senior analyst in case any support issues arise
  • Participate in activities that will advance self and the company, i.e. actively recruit for the company; act in a manner that is professional and representative of the company
  • Proactively document all work and work flows and regularly transfer knowledge to peers and supervisors
  • Performs other duties as required
     

Candidate  Profile for Systems Programmer/Administrator

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. Fluency in Dutch is highly advantageous
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in system programming in UNIX; S390 knowledge is a plus
  • Experience in programming C / C++, and UNIX shells
  • Working knowledge of the following platforms is desired: AIX, Linux, Solaris; HP is a plus
  • Oracle 10g installation and database configuration experience
  • Must have expertise in Microsoft Word or a related software package including Excel
  • Able to be at a computer/computer screen for extensive periods of time
  • Attention to quality, detail, correctness and deadlines
  • Able to handle and organise multiple projects and deadlines
  • Must be proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to communicate, both orally and in writing, with other members of team and clients
  • Willing to travel as needed (includes international travel)
