Our client, a highly respected and extremely prestigious world leader in the oil and gas industry, is looking for a Senior Petroleum Engineering Consultant to join their dynamic, multicultural and multilingual team in Aberdeen.

The EXPEC Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC) provides an environment for creativity and innovation in the upstream sector by creating new opportunities to find, develop, and produce hydrocarbon resources, developing cost-effective solutions to meet the company’s unique upstream challenges. EXPEC ARC is organized into the following technology teams: Geophysics Technology Team, Geology Technology Team, Computer Modelling Team, Drilling Technology Team, Production Technology Team, Reservoir Technology Team, and Technology Strategic Analysis Team. This candidate will be assigned to the Production Technology Team as an Artificial Lift Specialist.


Job Profile for Senior Petroleum Engineering Consultant
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Initiate, lead, conduct research and provide consultation in artificial lift, especially Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) both individually and/or along with a team
  • Identify, monitor and assess new technology related to artificial lift which could reduce production cost, improve well performance and safety
  • Generate new ideas and projects, initiate and prepare field trial program for new equipment, analyse trial results and make recommendation for design improvement and field-wide deployment

Candidate  Profile for Senior Petroleum Engineering Consultant

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability and desire to mentor young professionals is also required
  • An advanced degree in petroleum engineering or a closely related subject with 15-20 years combined experience in the oil industry and academia related to artificial lift
  • Broad experience and knowledge of petroleum engineering including artificial lift selection, design and optimisation, wellbore hydraulics, well completion and multiphase pumping
  • Extensive field experience in ESP system design, field installation and diagnostic is highly essential
  • Excellence in research will be evidenced by the candidate's publications, invited presentations, patents, professional awards and honors, and professional society activities
  • Knowledge of technology limitations with vendor systems is required
  • R&D experience is a plus
  • Abilityto use common nodal analysis and artificial lift design computer tools
