Currently, they are looking for a Solas Certified Field Engineer to cover all technical issues within the company’s business area.

Please note that this role requires extensive travel to customer sites/vessels worldwide - sometimes on short notice, 175 days/year.


Job Profile for Solas Certified Field Engineer
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Install, service, maintain and provide technical support for satellite communications systems provided by the company
  • Telephone and email support – ‘technical helpdesk’
  • Provide sales support to customers with significant technical needs
  • Set up IT systems as well as email software and applications on board customer vessels to work with our satellite terminals
  • Arrange and coordinate service attendance worldwide
  • Produce documentation related to customer equipment and configurations, according to the company’s guidelines
  • Perform radio survey, inspection and testing and or measurements of radio communication equipment on board vessels or mobile offshore units for compliance with SOLAS regulations


Candidate Profile for Solas Certified Field Engineer

  • Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Degree in Electronics from university, technical school or military school
  • 2 to 4 years of experience as service engineer in installation and maintenance of communication-electronics and related systems and equipment
  • Must be certified in SOLAS regulations
  • Must be flexible to work and travel varying schedules, including evening and weekends
  • Preferably have knowledge about satellite communication and Inmarsat terminals and radio survey
  • IP and network skills and knowledge are highly required
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • An in-depth knowledge of C-Band and Ku-Band VSAT satellite communications systems is preferable
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and strong troubleshoot skills
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and adherence to practices, procedures, and scheduling deadlines
  • Able to learn and adapt to new issues and handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferably experience from serving multi-national customers
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and climb into confined antenna spaces
  • Should preferably be familiar with working in the marine electronics environment on cruise ships, yachts, and industrial vessels
  • Capable to work worldwide, both independently and in cooperation with others under a high workload
  • Positive and result oriented
  • Problem solver, structured and systematic working methods
  • Able to prioritise correctly under pressure
  • Must hold a valid driver license for automobile
