Our client is an international company, supplying essential industrial gases and related equipment to various sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainability. They lead in the development of large-scale gas projects that convert natural resources into valuable products. Currently expanding, they are now looking for an EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Manager to join their team in Rotterdam.

Job Profile for EHS Manager

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Act as the first point of contact for EHS on the Project Site
  • Engage and liaise with the Project Manager and all support functional staff
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with Emergency Services and Authorities (e.g. incident investigations)
  • Assist with planning, development and execution of project-specific EHS plans 
  • Advise and contribute to EHS decisions on what subsequent actions can be implemented to satisfy project, corporate and legal requirements
  • Provide EHS leadership and guidance to support the Project Site Team 
  • Champion application of PDO EHS processes to benefit project performance
  • Facilitate and encourage heightened EHS awareness and behaviour throughout the project
  • Support and advise the Project Manager and Project Team in areas of safety, health, and environment
  • Work with Contractors to establish plans that meet contract requirements and follow through to ensure an effective implementation 
  • Instruct and train project personnel about the company’s EHS policies, procedures, and systems
  • Interface with the PDO EHS group, to support project activities and identify/implement best practices and lessons learned
  • Participate actively in Project EHS Team’s meetings
  • Maintain site performance reporting, action tracking, and case management of injuries and illnesses
  • Engage and communicate effectively with all levels of the project organisation and contractors
  • Enable high standards of EHS engagement, performance, and compliance to be achieved and maintained within the Project, using personal influencing, coaching, mentoring, communication, and support skills

Candidate Profile for EHS Manager 

  • Must be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent EHS qualification. A formal EHS qualification is desirable for the role
  • Previous experience working on large construction projects is preferred 
  • Full cycle industrial construction project, Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industry experience
  • Brownfield construction experience
  • Good understanding of logistics and transportation, for delivery purposes
  • Experience in managing staff and subcontractors
  • Proficient level of knowledge and experience: OSHA, Dutch Law, EPA, DOT, Drug & Alcohol
  • Proficient level of knowledge and experience: Ability to read P&IDs and Single Line Drawings, Rotating Equipment, LOTO (Lockout Tag out), PTW (Permit to Work), SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations)
  • Professional level of knowledge and experience in Incident investigations and facilitation of root cause analysis
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems and construction processes and their potential hazards
  • Proven EHS project managerial background and a track record of construction EHS
  • Hands-on EHS management systems and processes in the Gases Industry or Petro(chemical) industry
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations
  • A passion for safety and cultural support
