Description

Our client is a frontier market-focused investment bank, with a multi-fund asset management platform. Their funds are specialised in non-traditional asset classes, such as African renewable energy companies, solar home systems, and other off-grid solutions, and local currency bonds issued by microfinanciers.

As their assets under management are growing, they are strengthening their support infrastructure. With a newly established subsidiary in the Netherlands, they are looking for a new MBO Associate based in Amsterdam for the Middle and Back Office (MBO) Team.

Job Profile for MBO Associate
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Work with the Middle and Back Office (MBO) Team on tasks such as settlement, engagement with fund administrators, reporting to regulators and funders, updating fund and Asset and Liability Management (ALM) models
  • Fulfil the facility agent and security agent obligations of designated transactions of the company’s Asset Management funds
  • Carry out compliance checks and Know Your Customer (KYC) for new and existing portfolio companies
  • Support the head of portfolio management in relation to portfolio oversight, fund generated reports and ratio calculations, Environmental and Social Management System (E&S) monitoring, and tracking of informational covenant and side letter commitment fulfilment

Candidate Profile for MBO Associate

  • Must be fluent in French and English, both written and spoken
  • Degree from an internationally reputable university (finance, economics, or accounting, or legal fields preferred but not required)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a field with transferable skills
  • Understanding of fund operations and debt finance jargon preferred
  • Compliance background is also helpful
  • Emerging markets experience is advantageous
  • Proficient in the use of MS office, including some knowledge of financial modelling in excel
  • High level of organisational skills, attention to detail and strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter that can prioritise, track overlapping assignments, plan time appropriately, and otherwise fill the role with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable to work with changing situations in a dynamic organisation
  • Comfortable working across email, online platforms (such as Teams, Zoom), and phone for most interactions, including interactions within the company
  • Appreciation of a cross-national, cross-cultural environment
