Currently, they are looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join their expanding team in Delft, working in a hybrid setup that combines collaboration with remote flexibility.

In this role, you will design and develop the core backend software layer for the company’s specialised flagship product. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of top-tier engineers and work with cutting-edge technologies in the fast-paced field of quantum computing. 

Job Profile for Senior Java Engineer
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Design and develop the core backend software layer for the company’s flagship quantum control system
• Build scalable and efficient backend solutions to support advanced quantum computing operations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software components
• Define, implement, and maintain backend architecture to enable high performance and reliability
• Optimise system performance, data processing, and communication efficiency
• Develop tools and APIs that enhance system functionality and user experience
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues to ensure system stability
• Contribute to product design discussions and provide technical input on backend-related features
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in backend development and apply them to improve code quality and performance
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards

Candidate Profile for Senior Java Engineer

• Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
• 5+ years of backend development experience using Java/Kotlin
• Solid experience in Spring ecosystem (Core, Boot, Web)
• Proven experience with multithreaded programming
• Deep understanding of design patterns, systems and software architecture
• Proven track record in handling code review, testing, and system integration
• Focus on writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Strong familiarity with Python programming would be an advantage
• Proven experience in gRPC-based network communication is a plus
• Strong engineering capabilities with a can-do attitude
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment and under conditions of uncertainty
• Ability to work in a cross-geography, multi-site environment
