Description

Our client is an established manufacturer of wood-based products. They are one of the biggest productions in the Netherlands at present, having over 100 people in their organisation. They are currently looking for a Production buyer to join their team in Overijssel/Groningen.

Job Profile for Production Buyer
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Source and procure all raw materials, components, and techniques required for the production of wood-based end products
  • Execute and coordinate all operational purchasing activities on a day-to-day basis
  • Maintain and manage supplier relationships, including negotiating agreements and commercial terms
  • Liaise regularly with production departments regarding purchasing requirements for production, assembly, and transport
  • Actively contribute to improving supplier performance across production, assembly, and logistics operations
  • Handle the full administrative processing of the purchasing cycle from order to delivery
  • Support project-based purchasing activities where required
  • Develop in-depth familiarity with the company’s products, production processes, supplier base, and sawmill operations
  • Facilitate tactical purchasing activities as operational requirements continue to grow over time

Candidate Profile for Production Buyer

  • Must be fluent in Dutch, German and English, both written and spoken
  • HBO-level working and thinking ability, gained through education and/or relevant experience
  • Experience in a similar procurement role; timber purchasing and/or production industry experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of multiple procurement categories or commodity groups is preferred
  • Willingness to work fully office-based, Monday to Friday (08:30 – 17:00)
  • Availability to travel to Overijssel and/or Groningen once every two weeks, including overnight stays
  • Willingness to travel across Europe for supplier visits, approximately four to six times per year
  • Long-term mindset with the ambition to grow alongside the organisation
  • Strong organisational, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Accurate, analytical, proactive, hands-on, and able to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
