Our client is a fast-growing, technology-led organisation operating at the intersection of energy and digital innovation, delivering proprietary IoT-enabled solutions for monitoring, optimisation, and control of energy consumption. Their products support businesses in reducing waste, lowering costs, and accelerating sustainability efforts.
Currently expanding, they are looking for an experienced, hands-on Country Manager to build and lead their presence in Bucharest.
Job Profile for Country Manager
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Design and execute a market entry and growth strategy aligned with Romania’s regulatory environment, funding landscape, and competitive dynamics
- Identify the highest-value segments and use cases for IoT and Cast across industry, commercial real estate, public sector, and energy services
- Track EU funding (PNRR, Operational Programmes), procurement pipelines (SEAP), and policy developments to identify opportunities
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to keep the company’s positioning sharp
- Own the full sales cycle – from prospecting to contract signature, while building and managing a strong pipeline with accurate forecasting
- Achieve revenue targets, drive international expansion, and develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and margin protection
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industrial operators, municipalities, energy consultants, and integrators
- Establish strategic partnerships with local firms and engage industry associations to expand market access and credibility
- Represent the company at conferences, trade fairs, and industry events across Romania and the region
- Build and scale local operations, including hiring, subcontractor management, and capability development
- Collaborate cross-functionally to incorporate Romanian market insights into product and strategy
- Oversee local P&L statements and provide clear, data-driven reporting to senior leadership
Candidate Profile for Country Manager
- Must be fluent in Romanian and English, both written and spoken
- Proven B2B sales and business development experience in the energy sector across Romania or Southeast Europe, with a track record of growing new or existing markets
- Strong experience managing the full sales cycle for technical or consultative solutions, with the ability to engage and negotiate at the C-level and with public-sector stakeholders
- Experience with EU-funded programmes (PNRR, structural funds) and navigating associated opportunities
- Solid understanding of Romania’s energy landscape, including regulations, key players, funding mechanisms, and public procurement (SEAP)
- Familiarity with energy and IoT-related technologies (e.g. EMS, SCADA, smart metering)
- Established network within Romania’s energy ecosystem (utilities, industrials, ESCOs, public sector) is highly desirable
- Knowledge of ESCO models, energy audits, or performance contracting is a plus
- Previous country-level or general management experience is an advantage
- Highly self-driven, results-oriented, and comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability
- Willingness to travel, as required
