Our client is an international company, supplying essential industrial gases and related equipment to various sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainability. They lead in the development of large-scale gas projects that convert natural resources into valuable products. Known for their operational excellence and commitment to safety and the environment, they are dedicated to creating solutions that benefit communities worldwide.
Currently expanding, they are now looking for a Contracts Specialist to join their team in Rotterdam.
Job Profile for Contracts Specialist
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Embody the 4S culture of Safety, Speed, Simplicity and Self-Confidence
- Work with Project teams to support the Project to achieve goals primarily focused on Contracting Strategy, Proposals, Sourcing, Contracting Awards and Project Contract Execution for Engineering, Construction EPC Projects and various service Contracts and Purchase Orders (PO’s)
- Estimate support and make proposals for Projects, source the budget pricing from the market as a requirement for benchmarking market rates and resource availability
- Prepare and execute the project contracts and POs Strategy, identify the life of project requirements, work with planning and cost/estimating to understand budget allocations against Contracts and PO’s
- Prepare and execute the sourcing plan, identify and qualify suppliers including EPC companies, engineering and construction suppliers to meet the company’s requirements and understand safety, commercial, technical and capacity risks
- Draft and prepare bidding documents and the Pro-forma Contract, incorporate the technical scope of work, and pricing schedules for various commercial models including remeasure Contracts and PO’s, QA/QC, HSSE, and contract execution requirements
- Lead bid packages and issue to the market, clarifications, technical and commercial evaluations, negotiation and placement of Contracts and PO’s
- Conduct Kick-Off meetings and commercial meetings with Contractors
- Prepare contractual documents such as Letters of Instructions, Contract Change Orders/Modifications, Insurance Documents, Subcontractor Approval packages, Certificate of Final Acceptance, and other legal or contractual requirements as required
- Prepare and negotiate cost impacts and schedule for contract change orders/modifications/ claims assessment/arbitration
- Perform management of Contracts and PO’s. Manage relationships and maintain interface for project execution with Contractors
- Monitor, communicate, and respond to changing market conditions and business drivers to maximise leverage and minimise risk
- Participate effectively in Continuous Improvement activities
- Integrate cost forecasting and plan Contracts and PO’s management throughout the project lifecycle
- Support Financial and Business acumen to forecast cost modelling and contract commercial applications
Candidate Profile for Contracts Specialist
- Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
- A Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Mechanical/Civil) or QS degree is advantageous
- Excellent knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, One Note) and collaborative tools
- Good Knowledge of SAP and requisition to pay processes
- 10 years of experience working in Industrial Gases or complex engineering projects
- Contract administration experience and understanding of end-to-end contract placement to close out is critical for this role
- Experience in Contracts and PO’s and contractual language
- Strengths in drafting Contracts and PO’s and legal understanding of contract risk and the key clauses for contract execution and successful delivery of projects
- MRICS and or CIPS member
- Core skills in contract management, including experience in both lump sum and remeasure Contracts and PO’s for construction
- Excellent negotiation and contract resolution skills
- Good influencing and facilitative skills, including cross-cultures and geographies
- Strong organisational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to achieve targets and goals with clarity on action planning
- Able to work cross-functionally within the company
- Strong understanding of macro-economic factors
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
