For our international client, a global leader in the IT/Software market, we are looking for a Critical Environment Support Engineer to join their expanding team in Middenmere.
Job Profile for Critical Environment Support Engineer
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Provide escort support for third-party contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, and service providers on-site
- Work on a variety of tasks like making rounds, and initial assessments on equipment performance as assigned with supervision
- Perform basic equipment monitoring on the performance of maintenance and operations like electrical, mechanical, fire or life safety within the data centre with supervision
- Assist in providing emergency monitoring and response to various abnormal conditions with supervision, utilising emergency operating procedures (EOPs)
- Take daily operational readings of all electrical equipment through routine rounds or logs taking the temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.
- Follow operating procedures (SOPs) for critical environment-planned work activities
- Energise a cabinet in a colocation (Colo)
- Perform preventative maintenance quarterly and annually on an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
- Perform preventative maintenance on a system control panel
- Perform preventative maintenance on a battery
- Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work and comply with all physical security procedures and policies
- Assist in troubleshooting, repair and replacement of instrument sensors and calibration
Candidate Profile for Critical Environment Support Engineer
- Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken
- High-school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must have OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E
- 3+ years of work or applied learning experience in technical fields such as Automotive, Electrical, Controls, Data centre
- Previous data centre experience is a plus
- Experience with electrical systems in high availability assembly, manufacturing or critical infrastructure environments such as data centres, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields
- Fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code
- Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
