EHS & Permit to Work Supervisor – Dutch & English

Our client is an international company, supplying essential industrial gases and related equipment to various sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainability. 

They are now looking for an experienced EHS & Permit to Work (PTW) Supervisor to join their team in Rotterdam.

In the role, you will provide support and facilitate the implementation of the company’s EHS Management System requirements within the assigned projects. The EHS & PTW Supervisor will support the Project Site from early works through project mechanical completion.  Key support will be provided in areas of project EHS Permit to Work coordination, safety leadership, training, BSP coaching, site risk assessments, and EPC Execution work process and tool support.  

Job Profile for EHS & Permit to Work Supervisor
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Provide EHS leadership and support to the Project Site Team in achieving project objectives
• Champion the application of PDO EHS processes to enhance project performance
• Facilitate and promote heightened EHS awareness and behaviour throughout the project
• Support and advise Project Managers, Project Team, and Project Site EHS Manager in the areas of safety, health, emergency preparedness, and risk management
• Implement site-level EHS plans in alignment with the PDO EHS Management System and project requirements
• Work closely with Contractors to establish and execute plans that meet contract requirements, ensuring effective implementation
• Provide ongoing guidance and support to the site team
• Instruct and train project personnel on company EHS policies, procedures, and systems
• Participate actively in Project EHS Leadership Team meetings and SIMOPS
• Support site performance reporting, action tracking, and case management of injuries and illnesses
• Instruct and train project personnel in the company’s EHS PTW procedures, and related processes such as LOTO, IRR, Confined Space, etc
• Interface with the PDO EHS group to support project activities and identify/implement best practices and lessons learned

Candidate Profile for EHS & Permit to Work Supervisor

• Must be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
• Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-related field or an equivalent EHS qualification (formal preferred)
• VCA VOL certificate
• Proven background in EHS supervision with a strong track record in project construction support
• Knowledge of EHS management systems and processes in the Gases or Petrochemical industry, including isolation protocols and safe isolation practices
• Good communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of EHS management systems, industrial site processes, technologies, and associated hazards
• Significant experience in Major Capital Construction Projects is preferred
• Expert knowledge and experience in incident investigations and root-cause analysis
• Proficient knowledge of OSHA, Dutch legislation, EPA, DOT, and Drug and Alcohol policies
• Proficient technical understanding of P&ID reading, Single Line Drawings, Rotating Equipment, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), PTW (Permit to Work), and SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations)
• Strong independent working skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple levels and teams
• Strong commitment to fostering a safety culture within an organisation
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure in complex and ambiguous situations
