Our client is an international company, supplying essential industrial gases and related equipment to various sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainability. 

They are now looking for an experienced Deputy EHS Manager to join their team in Rotterdam.

The successful candidate will provide support to the EHS Manager and will facilitate the implementation of the company’s EHS Management System within the assigned projects during the Construction phase through its completion. Key support will be provided in areas of project EHS Leadership, training, BSP coaching, site risk assessments, accident and incident investigation, Emergency Response and Security.   

Job Profile for Deputy EHS Manager
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Provide EHS leadership and support to the Project Site Team in achieving project objectives
• Champion the application of PDO EHS processes to enhance project performance
• Facilitate and promote heightened EHS awareness and behaviour throughout the project
• Support and advise Project Managers, Project Team, and Project Site EHS Manager in the areas of safety, health, emergency preparedness, and risk management
• Work closely with Contractors to establish and execute plans that meet contract requirements, ensuring effective implementation
• Provide ongoing guidance and support to the site team with regard to Emergency Response and Security
• Lead Site EHS team in absence of the Project Site EHS Manager
• Instruct and train project personnel on company EHS policies, procedures, and systems
• Participate actively in Project EHS Leadership Team meetings
• Support site performance reporting, action tracking, and case management of injuries and illnesses
• Interface with the PDO EHS group to adopt best practices and lessons learned
• Support the Project Site HSE manager by ensuring HSE Strategies related to ERP, Traffic Management and Security
• Assist in the selection and prequalification of applicable contractors
• Audit against the tender information to ensure AP and their Contractors are aligned to contract-documented requirements

Candidate Profile for Deputy EHS Manager

• Must be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant HSE qualification preferred
• 10 years of HSE experience in an industrial environment with at least 5 years in a petrochemical/oil and gas company is considered essential
• NEBOSH or equivalent certification
• Dutch Regional experience is a must
• Good knowledge of Government legislation, international regulations and HSE best practice
• Air separation or industrial gas construction experience would be considered a plus
• Relevant strong experience in Emergency Response, Contingency, Crisis, Security and Traffic Management
• Strong technical competence in Project and Construction Safety, supported by a thorough knowledge of international standards for the management of Health, Safety, Environment and Risk such as OSHA, Dutch Arbo-law, NFPA, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Strong Microsoft software skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
• Good presentation and report-writing skills
• Strong planning, coordination, and risk management skills
• Strong and effective leader and coordinator
