Our client is an international company, supplying essential industrial gases and related equipment to various sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainability. They lead in the development of large-scale gas projects that convert natural resources into valuable products. Currently expanding, they are now looking for an E&I Superintendent to join their team in Rotterdam.
Job Profile for E&I Superintendent
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Ensure the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) construction contractor maintains a safe, clean, and orderly job site
- Ensure all parties meet project safety requirements through safe work practices
- Conduct weekly Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) inspection audits
- Monitor and sign work permits
- Organise and participate in weekly safety walks, track actions, and follow up with the E&I construction contractor
- Be aware of local standards and regulations regarding electrical construction works
- Issue a permit to work as per the company’s system to the contractor daily
- Supervise and coordinate E&I activities on-site
- Provide technical and supervisory support, guidance, and mentoring to the contractor construction teams
- Encourage and promote communication and teamwork among all parties
- Assist in developing strategies to improve contractor performance and interface coordination during construction activities, Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS)
- Assist in the review and appraisal of method statements and risk assessments for technical content and safety considerations
- Oversee the supervisor staff and provide constructive feedback
- Coordinate the interface between vendor representatives and contractors
- Manage the Temporary Site Facilities’ data and power networks, coordinate subcontractors and resolve site issues and requirements
- Monitor the execution of works to ensure project quality standards are met
- Coordinate with the quality department to support and assist with quality inspections
- Monitor contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Observe and monitor the interface of all construction activities for all disciplines, resolving any coordination issues
- Assist in system walk-downs with the E&I contractor
- Attend daily and weekly coordination meetings
- Assist the Construction Manager in developing detailed daily reports on work assessment and contractor performance
- Monitor and report on project progress for the E&I construction contractor
- Assist the managing contractor in monitoring productivity and progress
- Identify the works that are additional to the contract and bring this to the attention of the management
- Review the constructability of upcoming works and actively seek the best erection methods with the subcontractors
- Work with other supervisors, the Scaffold Coordinator, and relevant personnel to ensure good communication and coordination between all trades
- Work closely with quality teams to ensure compliance
- Familiarise themself with the company’s standards and specifications relating to electrical works
- Support, promote, and champion a positive safety culture, emphasising safety as the top priority
Candidate Profile for E&I Superintendent
- Must be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
- Degree or Diploma, in an appropriate Engineering discipline (Electrical)
- Proven knowledge and ability in construction techniques for the erection of electrical works
- 10 years of experience in Construction on industrial gases, Oil and Gas or related industry projects, which should be construction site-based
- VCA Certificate (required prior to site mobilisation)
- Previous experience working in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects, in the Oil and Gas industry
- Previous experience in a similar role, on similar-sized projects (industrial gas construction)
- Experience working with a multicultural project team
- Experience managing construction on behalf of the client rather than through an EPC
- Experience executing Bill of Quantity (BoQ) construction contracts
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Background in Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) systems
- Team player with strong written (report writing) and oral communication skills
- Organised, disciplined, and effective coordinator
- Able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks
