Our client is an international company, supplying essential industrial gases and related equipment to various sectors, focusing on innovation and sustainability. They are now looking for an experienced Construction Civil Superintendent to join their team in Rotterdam.
Job Profile for Construction Civil Superintendent
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Attend daily and weekly coordination meetings
- Serve as the primary contractor interface in the field, maintaining a deep understanding of civil and architectural construction works, technical issues, site labour, quality, and schedule
- Drive contractor quality compliance and performance whilst working with inspection teams
- Use experience and knowledge to provide technical and supervisory support, guidance and mentoring to existing management contractor construction team
- Ensure all parties meet project safety requirements by promoting and supporting safe work practices.
- Assist in the review and appraisal of method statements and risk assessments for technical content and safety considerations
- Carry out weekly HSE inspection audits
- Monitor permit and safe plan of action compliance
- Observe and monitor continuously the interface of the construction activities for all disciplines, and assist the managing contractor in resolving any interface coordination issues
- Input into coordination of interface between Vendor Representatives and Contractor
- Assist managing contractor with monitoring the execution of the works, to ensure project quality requirements and standards are met including monitoring of contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Assist in system walk-downs with contractor and client
- Assist AP Construction Manager in developing detailed reporting of assessment of works and contractor performance
- Encourage and promote communication and teamwork
- Support, promote and champion a positive safety culture and ensure all parties are reminded of expectations with regard to safety being the number one priority
- Provide input into contractor bid reviews and schedule assessments
- Complete daily reports highlighting construction contractor progress, site labour and potential commercial impacts of ongoing works
- Assist in developing strategies and initiatives to improve managing contractor and contractor performance
- Assist in review and appraisal of method statements and risk assessments for technical content and safety considerations
- Ensure compliance with the company’s behavioural safety program and online supervisor training requirements
Candidate Profile for Construction Civil Superintendent
- Must be fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
- 10+ years experience in major capital projects working within EPC principle contractor execution teams
- Working knowledge of UK CDM regulations
- Extensive experience in all aspects of heavy civil construction work
- Understanding of civil engineering design and temporary works
- Participation in constructability review sessions as part of front-end project planning
- Extensive experience working with UK civil contractors is an advantage
- Knowledge of HSE inspection audits and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
